It has to be done… country rolls, take me home, to the place I belong, out of town, with my camera, little one, shoot a roll. Yes, I’m singing this song that was played many times in my John Denver adoring childhood home as I share today’s list of photo prompts for little photographers joining our Roll Around the Block fun.
Happy times. Happy memories. Happy moments. They all spring to mind as I listen to that song and remember my own childhood. The memories flood back from a single song, just as they do from the photographs I have from then. Photos taken on a roll of film that needed to be sent away for processing and you’d wait for the prints to come back with anticipation and excitement.
Those are two things that I adore about Roll Around the Block – the chance for memory making with our own children and knowing that we are creating moments that they will look back on fondly in adulthood, and that we have that time of anticipation as we wait to see what they’ve decided to capture on their own ‘roll of film’ as they do a Roll Around the Block.
So, for this week’s list we’re heading to the country. Below you’ll find twelve prompts that are ideas for little photographers capturing their view of the countryside and you can find some ideas for places to visit out of town with little ones via our friends at Meetoo. If you’re not in the country, why not check out of previous photo prompts for a local block, festive, the city and the seaside. You can also check out photos that Mr Tiny took on a Roll Around the Block on the stunning Mornington Peninsula here.
Happy snapping, little photographers! If your little one would like to be in the running for inclusion in the digital gallery screenings at the NGV this week as part of the summer blockbuster Melbourne Now exhibition, don’t forget to upload your little one’s favourite photos to Instagram or Facebook with the hashtags #rollaroundtheblock and #melbournenow.
