The lovely ladies over at Culture Mamas, who host events to nourish the minds of parents with art and culture, have started a wonderful new series called Mama Circles. They’re creative conversations over lunch that mamas and papas can come along to, with their little ones, to hear about a creative topic then have a discussion with the speaker. I went to last month’s session when Di Hilyear from the National Gallery of Victoria spoke about children and art, and it was fantastic.

The next Mama Circles session is on May 15 and I’m excited to say that the speaker coming along to Culture Mamas to talk about children and photography is ME! As a photographer, I adore taking photos of my children but as is the way of tiny & little, I think it’s important and fun to not only take photos OF my children, but also WITH them. I also think the fun doesn’t stop with the click of the shutter, as you can use photography to inspire other creative activities.

At the session, I’ll touch on tiny & little’s children’s photographic activity Roll Around the Block which harks back to 2009 when I wanted to introduce my own children to a creative outlet that means so much to me. There will be tips for inspiring your little photographer and encouraging them as they learn, along with ideas for creative activities you can do once the photo shoots have finished. Best of all, there will be an open discussion when I’ll happily answer questions about kids photography and creative fun with little ones.

I enjoy watching little ones embrace and explore their creative side and adore observing their view of the world we live in and their dreams. It’s fascinating, insightful and inspiring when children are given the opportunity to imagine and create, so I’m very excited about this event and the chance to help other parents encourage their own little artists.

If you’d like to come along, you can find event and booking details here and I’d love to see you on May 15.
