Let me tell you about the birds and the bees, and the flowers and the trees, and the season we're fond of, and a kids book that we love...

Every once in a while I come across a book that takes my breath away, with illustrations or words that speak to me on a level beyond just the text on the page. From the moment I saw the Home Grown Books Little Reader Series, which bring art and reading for children together, I couldn't wait to get my hands on them and it needs to be said - these are the most beautiful readers...

I am a huge fan of language and literature and adore watching little ones as they learn literacy. Being a part of the experience as kids learn the alphabet letter names and sounds and to read is a highlight of the parenting gig for me. The way their little faces light up with pride as they recall a letter or learn how to read a new word is a beautiful sight. As part of their literacy...

It's that time of the year when there's chocolate everywhere you look and whispers are circulating about how it's okay to have chocolate for breakfast. While little ones daydream about the chocolates they'll receive on Easter Sunday and how big their haul will be in the Easter egg hunt, many parents are thinking about the sugar. So.Much.Sugar. For any parent whose child's wishes sound like they may attempt to eat their body weight in chocolate this...

December has finally arrived, hurrah! Some would say 'tis the season to be jolly and we must agree that it is the season of joy. There are school holidays, religious celebrations, a new year just around the corner and oh so much fun to be had and all of it has us grinning ear to ear. Here in Australia, December marks the arrival of summer and the air is now filled with the scent of sunscreen...

Things have been really quiet here at tiny & little for the last month, haven't they! Let's just say there has been a lot of garlic, hankies (well, tissues) and hugs, so many hugs. There have also been sleepless nights, long days and even longer days until we began to wonder when the bad run was going to end. We looked after each other the best we could but I must admit there were times...

Have you met Herbert Peabody? If you haven't, allow us to introduce this delightful character who will charmingly teach little ones about their food in the kids book Herbert Peabody and His Extraordinary Vegetable Patch. We met Herbert Peabody at Mulberry Tree Farm, where he tends to his big fruit and vegetable garden and supplies fresh food to the local area which he grows with a dash of magical singing, and it was all kinds...

This week at tiny & little, we're loving this book by Jon Klassen - I Want My Hat Back. This was a recent addition to our home library for Littlest's birthday, which I couldn't resist as we're already fans of This is Not My Hat, and it has been read more times than I can count.
This week at tiny & little we're loving the series of Girl Wise books by Sharon Witt. These inspiring books for the tween girl focus on important qualities like self esteem, values and friendship, while also offering tactics for the difficult moments that come with growing up like peer pressure and bullying.
At tiny & little this week, we’re loving this board book featuring classic character, Winnie-the-Pooh. This board book introduces young children to the alphabet using delightful illustrations by Andrew Grey that are linked to the classic tales of Winnie-the-Pooh and his friends. Well known characters Winnie-the-Pooh, Christopher Robin, Eeyore, Piglet and Tigger are each depicted on the page that their name begins with and the other letters of the alphabet feature whimsical drawings that little ones will adore.
