A question that I find often comes up when talking with other parents is what books we're each reading with our children. What stories do our little ones love hearing... over and over? Who are their favourite authors at the moment? I love this question. I've long been a bookworm and adore the chance to head on a journey into a story within the pages of a good book. It's even better when I can take my little ones along with me as I get to enjoy their imagination, input and reactions. When I was asked this week about books being loved at the home of tiny & little, the first ones that popped to mind were all around the theme of little artists.

In my childhood one thing that regularly appeared in my school lunchbox was a Vegemite sandwich. So much so that there were days when I tossed my lunch in the bin at school because I couldn't bear the thought of yet another one. I craved something different to the triangles of white bread laden with butter and Vegemite. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind a Vegemite sandwich but when it's in the lunchbox looking the same day after day (after day, after day) it gets a bit old.
It's a balmy summer night and the circus is in town. I'm standing in front of the big top where OVO, the Cirque du Soleil show currently touring Australia, will be performed later this evening. The bright yellow and blue of the big top rises up to the Cirque du Soleil flags, accompanied by the national flags of Australia and Canada. It takes me a few minutes to notice that behind the big top runs one of the most prominent and busy traffic bridges in Melbourne. Such is the presence of Cirque du Soleil and its ability to draw one into the moment, forgetting all else.

When it comes to favourite recipes at the home of tiny & little, this is one of them. It's always a hit with the little ones who love that they can make it all by themselves and get so much joy out of playing with their food. As a parent, I love that it's non-toxic and dries to a beautiful satin finish. What are we making today? Easy DIY Edible Fingerpaint.
